Gas Works Park

Park Seattle, Washington, United States

What to expect

Gas Works Park is a 20.5-acre public park located on the site of the former Seattle Gas Light Company gasification plant, on the north shore of Lake Union. The park features remnants of the old plant, including a children's 'play barn' structure, and an artificial kite-flying hill with a sculptured sundial. The park also hosts various events, including summer concerts and Independence Day fireworks. The soil and groundwater of the site were contaminated during its operation as a gasification plant, but have been cleaned and greened through bio-phytoremediation. The park is a unique and interesting place to visit, with its industrial past and natural beauty
