Tree Root Cave

Cave Forks, Washington, United States

What to expect

The Tree Root Cave, also known as the Tree of Life, is a remarkable natural wonder located in the Kalaloch Campground. This giant spruce tree has survived despite erosion tearing away at its foundation, leaving its roots exposed. The tree remains vibrant and healthy, with a small cave beneath its roots that hosts a stream flowing out to the Pacific Ocean. The area is part of the Olympic National Park and offers stunning coastal views, tide pools, and opportunities to spot wildlife such as crabs, sea urchins, and shore birds. Visitors can access the tree by taking the stairs down to the beach from the Kalaloch Campground and walking about 100 feet to the right. However, the path can be unstable and may not be suitable for people with disabilities or elderly individuals
