What to expect

Oyster Dome is a hiking destination located in the Chuckanut Mountains, near Bow, Washington. The trail to Oyster Dome is a challenging route that takes around 3-4 hours to complete, with an elevation gain of 1,900 feet. The trail passes through a second-growth forest of alder, Western redcedar, and Douglas fir, with logging artifacts and giant stumps along the way. The trail eventually leads to a rocky promontory with panoramic views of the Skagit River flats, Anacortes, Lummi Island, Orcas Island, and the Olympic Mountains. The area is popular for hiking and trail running, and dogs are allowed on a leash. However, the bat caves near Oyster Dome can be hazardous and should be enjoyed from a distance
