Jamestown Settlement is a living history museum that showcases the story of America's beginnings. The settlement was the first permanent English settlement in North America, established in 1607. Visitors can explore the outdoor living-history areas, which include life-size re-creations of a 1610-14 fort and Paspahegh Town, as well as climb aboard a re-creation of one of the three ships that sailed from England to Virginia in 1607. The museum also features expansive gallery exhibits and an introductory film that describe the cultures of the Powhatan Indians, English, and West Central Africans who converged in 1600s Virginia. The settlement is a great place to visit with family and friends to learn about the history of the area and the people who lived there
