Virginia Creeper Trail

Trail Abingdon, Virginia, United States

What to expect

The Virginia Creeper Trail is a 34.3-mile trail that passes through the beautiful back country of Southwest Virginia. The trail is open to hiking, jogging, mountain biking, and horseback riding, and features 47 trestles and bridges that provide scenic views of the region's creeks, farmland, and mountain forests. The trail stretches from Abingdon to the North Carolina State Line near Whitetop, and offers a range of experiences, from leisurely rides to more challenging climbs. Visitors can choose from two popular stretches, the 'Upper Section' from Whitetop to Damascus, or the 'Lower Section' from Abingdon to Alvarado, which features vistas of rolling farmland and forest, and some of the most beautiful trestle bridges. The trail is well-maintained and consists mostly of crushed stone, making it suitable for hybrid or road bikes
