Mt. Mansfield State Forest is a 44,444-acre forest in Vermont, covering seven towns in Chittenden, Lamoille, and Washington counties. The forest features Mount Mansfield, the highest peak in Vermont, with a summit ridge that is home to alpine tundra. Visitors can enjoy various recreational activities such as camping, swimming, boating, fishing, hiking, picnicking, bicycling, and winter sports. There are four state parks within the forest, including Little River State Park, Smugglers' Notch State Park, Underhill State Park, and Waterbury Center State Park. The forest also has two Nordic ski centers, backcountry ski trails, and over 36 miles of snowmobile trails. Additionally, there are remote campsites along the shores of the 880-acre Waterbury Reservoir, which offers motorboat and car-top boat access points.
