Thompson Springs is a small census-designated place in central Grand County, Utah. The town has a rich history, with evidence of human habitation dating back to the Archaic Period. It was named after E.W. Thompson, who operated a sawmill in the area. The town was once a bustling railroad town, with a post office, stores, restaurants, and a railroad depot. However, it has since declined and is now a ghost town with less than 50 residents. The area is surrounded by beautiful natural scenery, including the Book Cliffs, and is close to other attractions such as the Sego Canyon coal mines and the Moab Uranium Mill Tailings Remedial Action project
