What to expect
The Zion-Mt. Carmel Highway is a scenic drive that takes you through the beautiful landscapes of Zion National Park. The road winds its way up the mountain, passing by the Pine Creek Waterfall trail and the Great Arch, before reaching the Zion-Mt. Carmel Tunnel. The tunnel is a historic engineering feat, constructed in the 1920s, and is over 5,000 feet long. Beyond the tunnel, there are many scenic pullouts and overlooks, as well as hiking trails, including the Canyon Overlook Trail and the East Rim Trail. The area is also home to unique rock formations, such as Checkerboard Mesa, which features a crisscross pattern of horizontal and vertical grooves. The drive and surrounding trails offer stunning views of the park's natural beauty, making it a great destination for families and outdoor enthusiasts
