What to expect

The Canyon Overlook Trail is a 0.9-mile out-and-back trail that offers breathtaking views of Zion Canyon. The trail is considered easy and takes an average of 25 minutes to complete. It passes through shaded alcoves with ferns and trees, across a planked boardwalk, and over bare slick rock, leading to an impressive cliff overlook. From the overlook, visitors can see the expanse of Zion Canyon, with its monumental formations visible on either side, including the West Temple, Towers of the Virgins, Streaked Wall, and Beehives. The trail is suitable for families with children, but dogs are not allowed. The area is prone to icy spots, so it's recommended to start early and be mindful of the conditions
