What to expect

Whale Rock Trail is a moderately challenging hiking trail that offers stunning 360-degree views and fun scrambling opportunities. The trail is 0.8 miles round-trip and takes about an hour to complete, with an elevation change of 141 feet. It's a great place for kids who like to scramble on rock, but be careful and wear soles with good traction, as the trail can be rough and uneven. The trail is not accessible to wheelchairs and dogs are not allowed, except for service animals. The trailhead is located near the end of the Upheaval Dome Road, and the rock resembles a beached whale. Handrails are provided to help people reach the top, where you can enjoy impressive views out over Upheaval Dome
