What to expect

The Shafer Trail is a scenic driving route located in the Island in the Sky district of Canyonlands National Park. The trail is 18.3 miles long and descends 1,500 feet through a colorful, massive sandstone cliff. It offers stunning views, exciting switchbacks, and great photo opportunities. The trail is suitable for high-clearance 4WD vehicles with a low range gear and is not recommended for ATVs, OHVs, or UTVs.
