The Sand Flats Recreation Area is a nationally significant public lands treasure at the heart of the Colorado Plateau. It features a high plain of slickrock domes, bowls, and fins, and offers world-renowned bike trails, including the famous Slickrock and Porcupine Rim trails, as well as almost 30 miles of 4x4 trails. The area is popular for camping, with 140 individual campsites and 6 reservable group campsites. Visitors can enjoy scenic views, challenging trails, and a variety of recreational activities. The area is managed through a unique partnership between Grand County and the Bureau of Land Management, with a mission to protect the natural features of the area while providing access to sustainable and enjoyable recreational opportunities
