What to expect

The Mill Canyon Dinosaur Sites, located in Moab, Utah, are a significant paleontological site featuring numerous dinosaur fossils and tracks. The site is part of the Morrison Formation, a sedimentary rock series of clay, shale, and sandstone that settled in shallow bodies of water during the Jurassic period. Visitors can see fossilized footprints and bones of various dinosaur species, including Allosaurus, Stegosaurus, Camarasaurus, and Camptosaurus. The site also features remnants of an old copper mill that operated in the area until around 1902. A self-guided walking tour is available, and pamphlets can be picked up at the Grand Resource Area.
