What to expect

The Joint Trail is a scenic hiking trail located in the Needles District of Canyonlands National Park, near Moab, Utah. The trail provides many great panoramas of the Needles formations and winds through deep, narrow fractures in the rock. It is a moderately challenging route, with a roundtrip distance of 10.7 miles and an elevation gain of 615 feet. The trail is not accessible to wheelchairs and dogs are not allowed. Hikers should be prepared with plenty of water, snacks, and sturdy footwear, and be aware of the potential for sun, rain, heat, or cold. The trail is open year-round and is a popular area for hiking and walking. The Joint Trail is part of the larger Chesler Park Loop trail, which is 11 miles round trip and approximately 6-7 hours of hiking. The trail takes you through a tight crack in the rock, much like a slot canyon, and offers views of Chesler Park on either end
