The Aztec Butte Trail is a moderately challenging hike that offers spectacular views and a chance to explore ancestral Puebloan structures called granaries. The trail follows a sandy wash, then splits, with the eastern fork ascending Aztec Butte and the western fork climbing a smaller butte to two granaries. Both trails require scrambling up slickrock and ledges, and visitors are strictly prohibited from entering, touching, or climbing on the archeological sites. The trail is not accessible to wheelchairs, and dogs are not allowed. The hike is approximately 1.4 miles roundtrip, with an elevation change of 222 feet, and takes about 1.5 hours to complete. The trail is open year-round and offers great vistas, particularly the view toward the headwall of massive Trail Canyon to the northwest
