Mission Espada

Mission Espada, also known as Mission San Francisco de la Espada, is a historic mission located in San Antonio, Texas. It was the first mission in the province of Texas, founded in 1690 as San Francisco de los Tejas, and was later relocated to its current location in 1731. The mission features a church, a friary, and a granary, and is part of the San Antonio Missions National Historical Park. Visitors can explore the mission grounds, visit the church and park museum, and see a working historic loom. The mission also has an acequia system, which is the most complete and original acequia system at the park. The Espada Aqueduct, constructed in 1745, is also located near the mission and is a notable feature of the area
