What to expect

The Odessa Meteor Crater is a meteorite crater located in the southwestern part of Ector County, southwest of the city of Odessa, Texas. It is approximately 550 ft in diameter and 15 ft deep, and is one of three impact crater sites found in Texas. The crater is exposed to the surface and was originally about 100 ft deep, but has been filled in by soil and debris over time. The site has been designated as a National Natural Landmark by the National Park Service and features a small information area and nature trail for self-guided tours. The crater is home to various species of wildlife, including bobcat, badger, ground squirrel, burrowing owl, coyote, rabbit, and deer. The Odessa Meteor Crater Museum is also located on site, which provides information about the crater's history and features exhibits on meteorites and the impact that created the crater
