Big Bend National Park is a national park located in West Texas, bordering Mexico. The park has national significance as the largest protected area of Chihuahuan Desert topography and ecology in the United States. It protects more than 1,200 species of plants, over 450 species of birds, 56 species of reptiles, and 75 species of mammals. The park offers scenic drives, programs led by park rangers, and stargazing. The area has a rich cultural history, with archeological sites dating back nearly 10,000 years. The Chisos Mountains, located within the park, are the only mountain range in the United States to be fully contained within a national park. The park's diverse geography and climate support a wide range of plant and animal habitats, making it a unique and fascinating place to visit

Activities: We spent a very full day in Big Bend, driving through the Ross Maxwell Scenic drive, stopping at Santa Elena Canyon for hiking and playing in the Rio Grande, exploring the Lower Burro Mesa Pour off and walking around the Windows area in Chisos Mountain Basin
Highlights: The kids loved playing in the Rio Grande and Santa Elena Canyon, especially with the Junior Ranger Activities. We also enjoyed the mountain overlooks and desert plant and animal life ✨
