Fire Museum of Memphis

The Fire Museum of Memphis is a premier interactive fire museum located in the historic Fire Engine House No. 1. The museum features beautifully restored historic fire equipment, including a 1897 Hale Water Tower, a 1910 horse-drawn steam fire engine, and a 1912 American-LaFrance pumper. Visitors can experience what it's like to be a firefighter by donning turnout coats and helmets, playing on authentic fire equipment, and sliding down a brass fire pole. The museum also offers a simulated fire experience in a high-rise building, a fire safety house, and an escape maze. Additionally, the museum honors the service and history of the city's fire department with exhibits on the first twelve African American Memphis firefighters, contemporary art, and historic firefighting artifacts. A memorial wall is dedicated to every firefighter killed in the line of duty in Memphis since 1880.
