What to expect

Newport is a seaside city on Aquidneck Island in Rhode Island, known for its historic mansions, rich sailing history, and as a New England summer resort. The city has a population of about 25,000 residents and is home to Salve Regina University and Naval Station Newport. It was a major 18th-century port city and boasts many buildings from the colonial era. Newport hosted the first U.S. Open tournaments in both tennis and golf, as well as every challenge to the America's Cup between 1930 and 1983. The city has a lot to offer for families, including the Newport Winter Festival, which features live music, foodie contests, and kid-centric activities. Additionally, the Newport Burger Bender, a 'best burger' contest, and the Newport Flower Show are popular events.
