What to expect

The Philadelphia Museum of Art is a iconic museum that sits majestically on a rise at the end of the city's famous Benjamin Franklin Parkway. The museum's vast collections encompass more than 240,000 works spanning 2,000 years, including pieces from the ancient world, medieval times, the Renaissance, the Impressionist movement, and modern day. Visitors can explore dozens of period rooms, including a medieval cloister and an Indian temple, and see notable works such as a Rogier van der Weyden altarpiece, The Large Bathers by Cezanne, and Marcel Duchamp's mixed-media Bride Stripped Bare by her Bachelors. The museum has undergone renovations to make the interior space more open and navigable, with new galleries, public spaces, and exhibits, including the Robert L. McNeil Jr. Galleries dedicated to American art between 1650 and 1850. The museum also features a Sculpture Garden and offers a welcoming environment for visitors of all ages, with thoughtfully designed public spaces, wayfinding signs, and updated lighting features
