What to expect

Fort Ligonier is a British fortification from the French and Indian War located in Ligonier, Pennsylvania. The fort served as a staging area for the Forbes Expedition of 1758 and was never taken by an enemy during its eight years of existence as a garrison. Today, there is a museum next to the reconstructed fort, which features artifacts from the battle and offers guided tours. The fort's cannons are also fired on Fort Ligonier Days. The museum exhibits include the story of the French and Indian War, the history of Fort Ligonier, and original paintings by noted 18th-century artists. Visitors can explore the fort, its buildings, and the artillery park with cannons, carts, and wagons. The fort is also a great place for families, as it welcomes thousands of school children and families every year
