What to expect

Heceta Head Lighthouse is a scenic spot on the Oregon Coast, featuring a 56-foot-tall lighthouse that has been guiding ships since 1894. The lighthouse is situated on a 200-foot bluff and offers stunning views of the surrounding area, including the ocean, sea lions, and birds. Visitors can explore the base of the lighthouse and its ground floor, and book a room at the nearby Heceta Lighthouse B&B, which is located in the former assistant lighthouse keeper's residence. The area is also home to a variety of wildlife, including Roosevelt elk, marbled murrelets, and common murres. The Heceta Lighthouse Trail, a 7-mile forested trail, offers opportunities for hiking and wildlife viewing. The lighthouse is a great spot for whale watching during the winter and spring migration, and the surrounding ocean is part of Oregon's largest marine reserve, the Cape Perpetua Marine Reserve
