Salt Plains State Park

Salt Plains State Park is a unique state park located in Oklahoma, featuring a barren landscape of salt leftover from an ocean that covered the area in prehistoric times. The park offers various activities such as bird watching, hiking, and fishing in the Great Salt Plains Lake, which is about half as salty as the ocean. Visitors can also explore the selenite crystal dig area, where they can find rare hourglass-shaped selenite crystals. The park has equestrian trails, cabins, and camping sites, making it a great destination for families and outdoor enthusiasts. With over 300 species of protected birds and 30 species of mammals, the adjacent Great Salt Plains National Wildlife Refuge provides excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing and nature photography
