Conkels Hollow Nature Preserve

Conkle's Hollow State Nature Preserve is a rugged, rocky gorge considered one of the deepest in Ohio. The valley floor is a wilderness covered by a profusion of ferns and wildflowers, while hemlock, birch, and other hardwood trees tower overhead. The preserve features two trails: the Lower Trail, which is wheelchair-accessible and ¾ mile long, and the Upper Trail, which is a one-way, 2-mile trail that involves a moderate to steep incline and uneven steps. The preserve is not pet-friendly, and hikers must remain on the marked trail. The area is home to several unique features, including the Grotto, Slump Rock, and a waterfall. According to legend, robbers buried treasure somewhere in Conkle's Hollow, but visitors are not allowed to dig or stray from the trail.
