What to expect

Pisgah National Forest is a National Forest in the Appalachian Mountains of western North Carolina. The forest offers excellent recreational opportunities year-round, including hiking, fishing, boating, whitewater sports, rock climbing, and mountain biking. It has over a thousand miles of trails and wilderness areas, making it a hiker's dream in any season. The forest is also home to several natural attractions, such as the Cradle of Forestry, Linville Gorge and Falls, Looking Glass Rock, and Mount Hardy. Visitors can enjoy camping, picnicking, and scenic driving, and the forest is particularly popular during the fall for its colorful foliage and in the winter for skiing. The forest is managed by the U.S. Forest Service and is divided into three Ranger Districts: the Grandfather, Appalachian, and Pisgah districts
