What to expect

Hester Street Playground is a play oasis in the heart of Chinatown, located within the 7.85-acre Sara D. Roosevelt Park. The playground has two play areas, one for big kids and a toddler-sized area enclosed in its own gated section. The large, multi-level jungle gym features multiple entry and exit points, a rock wall, and twisty slides. The playground also has restrooms, picnic tables, and landscaped perimeters with plenty of color and shade. The area is wheelchair accessible, with ramps, mobility transfer systems, and accessible play elements. Additionally, there are sensory-friendly spaces for children with autism spectrum disorders and multi-sensory play experiences for children with sensory impairments

This family's experience:

Activities: We went to the Hester Street Playground, a large playground just a couple blocks from the museum. We enjoyed running around and exploring the play structures, swings, and musical blocks

Highlights: It was one of the largest playground in this part of Manhattan, with play structures for younger and older kids, musical blocks to stomp on, swings and more. We always incorporate playtime when expecting good museum behavior ✨
