Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge is a wildlife refuge in New York City, comprising diverse habitats including salt marsh, upland field and woods, several fresh and brackish water ponds, and an open expanse of bay and islands. The refuge provides habitat for a wide variety of flora and fauna, both marine and terrestrial, and is a prime location for birding in New York City. Visitors can walk along the West Pond Trail and East Pond Trail, which offer opportunities to observe ospreys, diamondback terrapins, and other wildlife. The refuge also features a visitor center with a parking lot, restrooms, and a scenic view. With over 325 species of birds recorded, the refuge is a great place for families to explore and learn about nature

Activities: We walked the loop around the West Pond, which is just under two miles. We saw quite a few birds and even used binoculars for the first time!
Highlights: It was a fun adventure and we loved seeing the different birds. The kids especially enjoyed using the binoculars and observing nature ✨
