What to expect

The Salt Marsh Nature Center is a hub for nature appreciation, educational activities, and community engagement. It is the largest of New York City's five nature centers and serves as a base of operations for the Brooklyn Urban Park Rangers. The center offers exhibits, classrooms, and meeting spaces, as well as a nature trail and gardens. The surrounding Marine Park is Brooklyn's largest park, featuring 530 acres of grassland and precious salt marsh, which is protected as a Forever Wild Preserve. The park is home to a multitude of native flora and fauna, including ducks, geese, and other waterfowl. Visitors can enjoy walking tours, workshops, and community events, such as a Harvest Dance, an Earth Day celebration, and yoga classes.
