New Mexico Steam Locomotive History Museum

Museum Albuquerque, New Mexico, United States

What to expect

The New Mexico Steam Locomotive and Railroad Historical Society is a great place for families to learn about railway history. The society has restored the former Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe 2926, a 2900-class, 4-8-4 'Northern' steam locomotive built in 1944 by the Baldwin Locomotive Works. The 2926 is one of the last steam locomotives built for the ATSF and is the only operating 2900 in the United States. Visitors can see the restored locomotive and ongoing projects, and meet the society's volunteers. The society is working towards the ultimate goal of pulling passenger excursions in New Mexico
