Spooner Lake is a manmade lake on the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe, surrounded by aspens and offering a 2.5-mile loop trail that is suitable for a nature walk. The trail is almost entirely flat and features many informational signs, waterfowl, and wildflowers in the springtime. In the fall, visitors can enjoy the beautiful colors of the changing leaves. The lake is also a popular spot for cross-country skiing and mountain biking. Visitors can explore the surrounding backcountry, which features over 50 miles of hiking, equestrian, and mountain biking trails, as well as primitive roads. The area is home to a variety of wildlife, including birds and fish, and offers opportunities for fishing and hunting. The Spooner Lake Visitor Center and Amphitheater provide information on the natural and cultural history of the area and offer ranger-led hikes and tours
