What to expect

Scotts Bluff National Monument is a landmark for many peoples, towering 800 feet above the North Platte River. The monument protects over 3,000 acres of historic overland trail remnants, mixed-grass prairie, rugged badlands, towering bluffs, and riparian area along the North Platte River. Visitors can explore the monument's visitor center, which contains exhibits about the geological, paleontological, and human history of the monument, including exhibits about the Oregon Trail and its travelers. The monument also features a paved road that allows visitors to drive to the top of the bluffs, numerous interpretive waysides, several hiking trails, and magnificent views. Restrooms, drinking water, and picnic tables are available, making it a great place to visit with family and friends

Activities: We visited the Scott Bluff National Monument, admiring the different colors of the rock faces from sunrise to sunset. We even managed to drive our camping car through the tunnels to enjoy a picnic with an amazing view!

Highlights: The amazing views were definitely something we enjoyed. Our camping car was just the right size to access the summit, which allowed us to have a picnic with the most beautiful views of our trip! ✨
