What to expect

Dobby's Frontier Town is a historic town that showcases what life was like in a small frontier town nestled in the gently rolling grasslands of the Nebraska Sandhills. The town features an authentic 1889 one-room schoolhouse, a general store, post office, and several other historic buildings, including the First black Homestead in Nebraska and a 1912 German Evangelical Immanuel Lutheran Church. Visitors can explore the town and its many exhibits, including a Texaco Gas Station from Chadron State Park and a baled straw house. The town also offers geocaching and hosts a Fall Festival with hands-on exhibits, live entertainment, and more. The town is run by volunteers and relies on donations to keep it open

This family's experience:

Activities: We visited Dobby's Frontier Town, a replica of a town from the time it was founded. It includes an church, school, post office, general store, farms, saloon and even the room of the 'peripatetician'!

Highlights: The whole family found the town simply brilliant! We loved the attention to detail. It's run by an association that tries to keep it alive during the tourist season ✨
