Shaw Nature Reserve is a 2,400-acre nature reserve with various habitats, including a tallgrass prairie, glades, woodlands, and wetlands. The reserve features over 17 miles of hiking trails, a children's Nature Explore Classroom, and the Whitmire Wildflower Garden with over 500 native plant species. Visitors can explore the reserve's many trails, which offer easy strolls and hikes that bring them in close contact with the different habitats. The reserve is also home to several historic homes, including the Joseph H. Bascom House and the Dana Brown Overnight Center.
