The prison's past is marked by its notorious reputation, earning it the nickname 'bloodiest 47 acres in America' in 1967. A museum is also available, showcasing the prison's history, with displays on prison industries, life inside the walls, and control/counter-control. The museum features a replica cell and memorabilia, providing insight into the living conditions and daily life of the prison's former inmates
