What to expect

Van Buren State Park is a scenic park located along the Lake Michigan shoreline, featuring high dune formations, a modern campground, a mile of sandy beach, woodland trails, and a day-use area. The park offers a picnic area with tables and grills, a picnic shelter, and modern restrooms. Visitors can access the Van Buren State Park Spur Trail, a 4-mile paved route into the City of South Haven, and connect to the Kal-Haven Trail State Park for additional 33.5 miles of trail. The park also features a buoyed swim area, a pet-friendly beach, and allows hunting and metal detecting in designated areas. Families can enjoy biking, hiking, and nature programs, and there are two small play areas with swings and a slide in the day-use area
