Wellfleet is a great destination for shellfishing, with several areas open to recreational and commercial shellfishing. The Indian Neck area is open to recreational shellfishing on Wednesdays and Sundays during the summer, and every day during the off-season. Other areas, such as Chipman's Cove and Lieutenant Island, are also open to shellfishing during certain times of the year. The town is home to a variety of shellfish, including oysters, quahogs, soft shell clams, and bay scallops.
