The Freedom Trail is a 2.5-mile-long path through Boston that passes by 16 locations significant to the history of the United States. It winds from Boston Common in downtown Boston, to the Old North Church in the North End and the Bunker Hill Monument in Charlestown. Stops along the trail include simple explanatory ground markers, graveyards, notable churches and buildings, and a historic naval frigate. The trail is suitable for walking and provides a glimpse into Boston's storied, complicated, and multi-faceted history. Guided tours are available, and a free self-guided audio tour can be downloaded. The trail is also accessible, with some sites having at-grade entrances or alternative routes for visitors with mobility issues
