Acadia National Park is a national park located on the mid-section of the Maine coast, southwest of Bar Harbor. The park encompasses over 49,000 acres, including mountains, an ocean coastline, woodlands, lakes, and ponds. It features the tallest mountain on the Atlantic Coast of the United States, Cadillac Mountain, as well as exposed granite domes, glacial erratics, U-shaped valleys, and cobble beaches. The park offers various recreational activities, including hiking, bicycling, horseback riding, kayaking, and canoeing. Visitors can also explore the park's historic carriage road system, which was designed and financed by John D. Rockefeller Jr. The park is home to a diverse range of plants and animals and has a rich human history, with evidence of human presence dating back over 10,000 years. Families can enjoy guided walks, amphitheater presentations, education programs, and outreach activities, making it a great destination for family travel
