World’s Largest Easel

Roadside attraction Goodland, Kansas, United States

What to expect

The World's Largest Easel is a giant reproduction of Vincent Van Gogh's 'Three Sunflowers in a Vase' painting, located in Goodland, Kansas. The 24 by 32 foot painting is mounted on an 80-foot-tall steel easel, making it a prominent landmark in the area. The project was created by Canadian artist Cameron Cross as part of his Van Gogh Project, which aims to reproduce all seven of Van Gogh's sunflower paintings on giant easels in seven different countries. The easel is made of steel and weighs 40,000 pounds, with a design wind load of 38 pounds per square foot. The painting is made of industrial acrylic urethane enamel and is attached to the steel frame with over 500 high-performance self-tapping screws. The Big Easel is a unique and impressive work of public sculpture that changes the viewer's perception of the traditional representation of visual art
