What to expect

Mushroom Rock State Park is a unique 5-acre park featuring unusual rock formations, including mushroom-shaped rocks that resemble giant mushrooms rising above the horizon. The rocks are the remains of beach sands and sediments of the Cretaceous Period, held together by natural cement. The park is a day-use area only, with no camping allowed, and is managed by nearby Kanopolis State Park. The rock formations have drawn a variety of people, including Native Americans, mountain men, soldiers, and present-day tourists. The park is designated as one of the 8 Wonders of Kansas Geography and is a great place to visit for its geological and historic significance
