Starved Rock State Park

Starved Rock State Park is a state park in Illinois, characterized by its many canyons within its 2,630 acres. The park hosts over two million visitors annually and features diverse forest plant life, several wild animal species, and sport fishing. The park has a rich history, with evidence of human occupation dating back to the Clovis Culture. It was also home to Native Americans, particularly the Kaskaskia, and was later developed as a vacation resort. The park offers 13 miles of trails, fishing, boating, and extraordinary views of the Illinois River. Visitors can explore the park's unique geology, which was shaped by a catastrophic flood known as the Kankakee Torrent, and learn about its history and ecology at the Visitor Center
