Baby Makapu'u is a beautiful beach with shallow tide pools, perfect for families with young children. The beach features four or five tide pools separated by rocks, with depths ranging from six inches to three and a half feet, making it an ideal spot for toddlers and kids who are just learning to walk or swim. The rocks protect the pools from rough surf, and the sand is suitable for playing. The beach also offers gorgeous views, including a panorama of the Waimanalo mountains and colorful Rabbit Island. Older children can enjoy snorkeling in the shallow water beyond the tide pools, and the rocks are perfect for roughhousing. However, be cautious as the rocks can be slippery. The beach is also home to a variety of sea life, including turtles and fish, and is a great spot for families to spend the day together
