What to expect

Hāpuna Beach State Recreation Area is a large park and sandy beach on the Big Island of Hawaii. The beach is popular with residents and visitors and is known for its white sand and clear waters. It offers good conditions for swimming, bodyboarding, sunbathing, and snorkeling. The park has lifeguards, but can be hazardous during high surf conditions. The area is also home to the Hāpuna Beach Prince Hotel and is located near other notable beaches such as Kua Bay, Manini'owali Beach, and Kaunaʻoa Bay. The park has picnic areas, restrooms, and showers, making it a great spot for families and outdoor enthusiasts. Hāpuna Beach has been named the Best Beach in America by Dr. Beach in 1993 and 2021
