Rainbow Falls, also known as Waiānuenue Falls, is a 80-foot waterfall located in Hilo, Hawaii. The falls are part of the Hawai'i State Parks and are accessible via Wailuku River State Park. The waterfall is renowned for the rainbow formed from its mist many mornings and is surrounded by lush, dense nonnative tropical rainforest. According to legends, the cave beneath the waterfall was the home of Hina, the mother of the demigod Maui. The falls are a popular tourist destination and can be viewed from a viewing platform or from the top of the falls after a short hike. The area is also home to ancient banyan trees and other lush vegetation
