Ellis Square

Ellis Square is one of the original squares in Savannah, Georgia, and has a rich history dating back to 1733. The square was once the site of the City Market and was later replaced by a parking garage. However, in 2005, the parking garage was torn down and replaced by an underground parking structure, allowing for the restoration of the public square. Today, Ellis Square is a dynamic public space that features a visitor center, restrooms, an interactive fountain, and a variety of seating options. The square also includes a bronze statue of Johnny Mercer, a native Savannahian and well-known songwriter. The square is a great place for families to visit, with a water fountain for kids to run through, shaded tables, and a life-size chess set.
