What to expect
The St. Augustine Lighthouse & Maritime Museum is a historic site that showcases the maritime history of the Nation's Oldest Port. The current lighthouse tower, built between 1871-1874, is still an active aid to navigation and offers spectacular views of the city and ocean from its 165-foot height. Visitors can climb the 219 steps to the top of the lighthouse and explore the many exhibits in the keeper's house, which feature the history of the lighthouse, shipwrecks, and the important work of marine archeologists. The museum also offers various tours, including a Dark of the Moon Ghost Tour, a Lighthouse Ghost Tales Tour, and a Sunset/Moonrise Tour. The grounds include a natural hammock, a children's play area, and a gift shop with unique nautical and local souvenirs. The museum is a great place for families to learn about maritime history and enjoy quality time together
