What to expect

Sherwood Island State Park is a public recreation area on the shore of Long Island Sound in Westport, Connecticut. The park offers swimming, fishing, and other activities on 238 acres of beach, wetlands, and woodlands. It is home to a variety of fish species, including blackfish, bluefish, scup, summer flounder, winter flounder, and striped bass. The park also features a 9/11 living memorial, which honors the victims of the September 11, 2001, attacks. The memorial includes a granite memorial stone, bio-plaques, and a sculpture incorporating artifacts from the World Trade Center. Additionally, the park has a nature center, walking and biking trails, and opportunities for bird-watching, kite-flying, and model airplane flying. Visitors can also picnic, play volleyball, or simply relax under the trees
