Browns Canyon National Monument is a 21,586-acre area located in Colorado's upper Arkansas River valley. The monument features pristine canyons, rivers, and backcountry forest, with unique environmental features such as mountains, canyons with glacial characteristics, and gulches. The area provides opportunities for outdoor recreational activities like rafting, kayaking, biking, horseback riding, hiking, nature watching, photography, and stargazing. The Arkansas River, which runs through the monument, is a popular destination for whitewater rafting and offers world-class wild trout fishing. The monument is jointly managed by the Forest Service and the Bureau of Land Management, and it is home to diverse species of wildlife, including Big Horn Sheep and Golden Eagles
