Walker Home Ruins

Ruins Morrison, Colorado, United States

What to expect

The Walker Home Ruins, also known as the Falcon Castle Ruins, is a historic site located in Mount Falcon Park near Morrison, Colorado. The ruins are the remains of a grand mansion built by John Brisben Walker, a self-made millionaire, in 1909. The mansion featured 10 bedrooms, eight fireplaces, a music room, an observation deck, library, and servants quarters. The mansion was struck by lightning and burned to the ground in 1918. Today, visitors can hike to the ruins and explore the remaining walls and structures, including the inner courtyard and the tallest structure, the chimney. The site offers a glimpse into the life of John Brisben Walker and his contributions to the development of the area, including the introduction of irrigated alfalfa as a crop and the development of the Riverfront Park area of Denver. The ruins are a short hike from the Mount Falcon Park trailhead, and the surrounding area offers additional hiking trails and scenic views
